Literature review, Actung Panzer!

Image
The book ‘Achtung Panzer!’ is a book i have been recently passionate about as i have developed a strong interest in tanks and their inner workings and strategic warfare." Achtung Panzer!" by Heinz Guderian is a seminal work in military literature,” Attention, Tank!" or, more idiomatically, "Beware the Tank!", providing deep insights into the theory and practice of armoured warfare. Guderian, a highly influential German general during World War II, pioneered the development of blitzkrieg tactics, which emphasised speed, surprise, and concentrated firepower to achieve decisive victories. The book begins by summarising the historical context of armoured warfare, tracing its evolution from the First World War to the interwar period. Guderian then delves into the principles of manoeuvre warfare, stressing the importance of mobility, initiative, and coordination between different arms of the military. He provides detailed analyses of key battles, such as the invasi...

SLC 2023

I was in my school's 2023 Scout Leadership camp and we had to hike to East Coast Park.  After we had finished packing our bags for the hike, we were informed that we would be hiking to East Coast Park which was around 9km away and we had to prepare flags for our patrols which were named to constellations and mine was Aquarius which i had a lot of fun designing as everyone was involved in the process of making the flag and it turned out amazing and we were all really proud. As we were leaving for the hike each patrol was issued a tent which was around 7kg and we had to carry it along as we hiked we had to designate shifts for people to carry them as we hiked I was not aware of the time we had spent hiking as I was absorbed in conversation with my fellow batchmates getting us to understand each other more. Thankfully we arrived at the campsite before dark and we had to pitch our tents and cook dinner which was a simple packet of instant noodles but it was a fun experience gathering a...

Orientation camp 2024

Image
This is an orientation camp that my batch was in charge of planning and executing. Honestly, I was quite satisfied with the camp although our planning was rushed. This was very unique as I was given an important role in this camp which was activities IC and I oversaw every activity carried out the main activities I was in charge of were night walk and wet games. Both were pretty successful and I think everyone enjoyed them and the camp. This camp really moulded me into a different person as we had messed up quite a lot on the first day and our venture Jia en had given us a harsh talk on the reality that we were not performing very well and we had to buck up. This powered me to do better and strive for near perfection in all that I do. I saw the venture crossover which is basically a ceremony where our senior ventures 'crossover' a rope to symbolise that they have crossed into a new stage in scouts and they are going to help out the unit. This really inspired me and I promised...

2024 Venture Foundation course

Image
In 2024 i attended the venture foundation course, prior to this camp we had a briefing where we all meet together to have a briefing amd we where sieved into our different excos i was paired up with my good friend and batchmate timothy (right most person) and i also met some other scouts Zhi xi (left second), Wee Kee (middle) and our exco facil Yu Kai (right second) and i am on the right. Our exco was in charge of camp development, building the tents and camp gadgets as such. We had to plan camp dev before the actual camp. This was a very unique experience because i have never been to sarimbun scout camp and it was very isolated. This wa sthe first time i had to plan a camp so it was very intimidating yet fun. When the actual camp arrived we managed to succesful carry out our activity with minor hiccups. The camp itself was very fun. i got to interact with a lot of other scouts from different units and bond with my exco with the other activities the other exco had planned. At the end o...
